Kroger's Two New Marketplace Stores
The biggest jobs story in this batch is Kroger. The Columbus Division is building a roughly 123,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace at 1650 Sunbury Road on Delaware's east side, near Glenn Road. It's a $33 million project with the full Marketplace treatment: produce, bakery, deli, meat and seafood counters, a sushi bar, a Murray's cheese shop, an expanded apparel section and a fuel center. Kroger targeted early fall 2026 for the opening. Local reporting around the groundbreaking put the staffing at more than 200 positions.
The second store is a 118,000-plus-square-foot Marketplace at Diley Road and Greengate Boulevard in Canal Winchester, a roughly $30 million build with its own fuel center. Kroger has said late fall 2026 for that one, though ground was only broken in March, so watch for the date to firm up.
Both are part of more than $112 million Kroger is putting into Central and Northwest Ohio this year, which also covers remodels at existing stores in places like Dublin, Gahanna, Worthington, New Albany and Reynoldsburg.
Marketplace stores staff up across the board: cashiers and self-checkout hosts, stockers and overnight crews, deli and bakery clerks, meat cutters, pharmacy technicians, fuel center attendants and department leads. Applications run through Kroger's official careers site.
MINISO Land Comes to Easton
On the Northeast Side, MINISO is turning the former Amazon Style space on Level 1 of Easton's Station building into MINISO Land, a roughly 15,000-square-foot store the company bills as a retail amusement park. Think blind boxes, collectibles and themed zones built around licensed characters and MINISO's own lineup. Easton Town Center lists MINISO under its coming-soon tenants.
Reports pointed to a late September or early October debut, but the company hasn't confirmed a date, and it hasn't said how many people it will hire. A store that size with an experiential concept usually needs sales associates, stock and visual merchandising help, and shift leads.
RaceTrac's First Columbus-Area Stores
Atlanta-based RaceTrac is building its first two Columbus-area stores. The West Jefferson location at 2 Commerce Parkway, out along I-70 in Madison County, is a large-format travel center with high-flow diesel and a truck scale. The Canal Winchester store at 5811 Gender Road is a mid-size format. West Jefferson was reported for fall 2026, with Canal Winchester later in the year.
RaceTrac says its stores typically employ between 20 and 40 team members depending on size, and it advertises medical, dental, vision and 401(k) matching. No headcount has been announced for these two. Openings will post on RaceTrac's careers site.
🔎 Where to Aim Before the Doors Open
New stores often hire in waves, with managers first, then department leads, then a big frontline push a few weeks out. If you already have grocery, convenience or retail experience, apply as soon as listings appear.
